file Card submission: Dark Horse

I can't really think of any regularly deployed master cards that feature regularly in the TWDA which only perform well if pulled at the start of the game.

I have counted 30 TWDs in Secret Library modified in 2013 using Zillah's Valley.

Hmm, I get about 26 out of 280 created since 1/1/2013. Which is somewhat higher than I would have guessed, even allowing for the fact that Zillah's Valley obviously only turns up in decks with a relatively high-cap focus. (Not necessarily only high caps, since you could plausibly use it in a superstar deck.)

Giant's Blood. Which only prove the point, but alas.

I've seen plenty of people refill a vampire in the mid or late game, then siphon some off with Blood Doll, Minion Tap, Villein, or what have you. Worked pretty well for them. Sure, the early game Villein + Giant's Blood combo is extremely neat, but a late game surge of blood and/or pool is still very solid.

And not every deck on the table is likely to be playing it, even for the value of exhausting its once per game mechanic. Sit down on a table with a weenie deck and an Imbued deck and you may well not see it from them, for example. Working backwards through Lasombra's TWDA page from October 2013, I count - I think - 9 of the last 20 decks including Giant's Blood. So it's entirely possible you could hit turn 6 in a game without having seen it played yet.

While technically true, more often than not, it's not even playable at all.

To be honest, I would almost always put Giant's Blood in a weenie wall or rush deck purely to deplete its use by a big-cap deck.

But I'm also not surprised at the roughly 10% rate of Giant's Blood in TWD (note: this implies that Giant's Blood appears more than 10%). That means though that at a 10+ tournament there will be at least one deck with it, so there is a better than 50% chance that it will be played during your game. Then it comes down to assumptions about deck sizes and cardflow rates, but I'd be stunned if you don't see it played by someone by the end of Turn 8.

Make the card go on the vampire.

Then make the vampire take X amount of damage when he becomes ready, where x is like capacity derived, to prevent uber bloat.

Still strong though.

I kind of like that idea.

Dark Horse
Cost: 4 pool
Master. Trifle.
Move 4 blood from the blood bank to a untitled vampire with a capacity above 8 in your uncontrolled region. Put this card on this vampire. When the vampire enter play, burn this card and 4 blood on the vampire.

Still simple (I like simple) and rather strong. Or something like that?

This card can also be unique, but that might make it too weak.

Still pretty good. If its not unique, id run it in my Ariadne deck like crazy. Turn one, 2 of these on Ariadne, put a bead on whoever else(maybe convert, but i dont run it) and get my 8 cap. Turn 2, vessel and chimestry skill card, must hunt, choose to abactor hunt, gain 5, freak drive, then whatever. Maybe sense dep someone, maybe lokis gift for giggles. You get the idea.

Unique doesnt hurt it. Its a,trifle.
