Heys!

Can one use any kind of non-ranged strikes at long range assuming there's no restriction like "only usable at close range" to cycle or just to cause an effect affect (:D)? If so, damage is obviously not dealt but does any kind of effect take place?

Par Exmaple:

1, Strike: Put this cord on the opposing minion... etc
2, Strike: hand strike at +2 damage, and the opposing minion cannot strike for the remainder of the round... etc (Pounce)
3, Strike with Bundi to prevent damage from an upcoming Dagger?

IANPB but...

If the strike would not be effective at its current range, then any non-damage effects (e.g. not damage, not theft) would also be ineffective (i.e. the strike never landed so the additional effects don't hold either).

It would be better to answer to proper examples, but the fact that a strike can be used doesn't mean it's effective.

Eg., if you play Pounce at long range, it has no effect because it's not ranged.

If you strike with a Bundi at long range, it has no effect for the same reason.

Pounce
Cardtype: Combat
Discipline: Flight
Strike: hand strike at +2 damage, and the opposing minion cannot strike for the remainder of the round (this doesn't affect the current strike resolution). If this strike is dodged, this striking minion takes 1 damage during strike resolution and the opposing minion gets an optional press.

Stealing blood (or stealing anything else, for that matter) is a non-damage effect. So your bracketed text is a little confusing.

Effects on the opposing minion don't happen.

Is there a complete definition of "effect on the opposing minion" ? I suppose effect on at least retainer and equipment are considered "on the opposing minion", and common sense can usually work, but it's alway good to know if there is a precise definition.
