Expansion Update

Emiliano, are you playing a game or buy shares on the stock market?
If you are investing in cards for the purposes of gaining money, then can I suggest you go buy MtG cards? They are worth more money.
Keeping the game alive is my first priority. Keeping new players coming in, second. The rest... seems like whinging about something irrelevant.

How an investor can check if the game has still a market value and numbers, in the very moment that you waste that value by turning vtes in a proxy game, and, on the other side, you accustom its player's base to the notion of an entirely free-to-get model ?

Reversible ?
If so, good luck in convincing some investor in the future about taking a free proxy game that he has to turn again in a produced and paid-for game.
If such miracle would ever happen, then good luck also in getting players back to buy and pay for cards once again, after they'll accustomed to the notion of a free-to-get proxy game
On my part, i've said all that i have to say about this proxy question, and for the sake of the game i hope that proxies for already printed cards will *never* be made official at sanctioned events

@nc-italy:
You keep insisting that proxies = free cards to a potential publisher. Someone has already pointed out that proxies are only a band-aid. It's a policy that is reversible.

Agree.
My point is that both those priorities much merge. One cannot exist without the other.
To quote Admiral Adama, while starting to deal with the immediate escape from the Cylons, he also saw more ahead:
"We need to start making babies".

Nobody proposed a free proxy game. The proxies can be listed by the VEKN and I don't see the need for more than 12 or 15.
But you make an interesting point of discussion that is more to the subject at hand:
Following your rationale, if I understood correctly, no new cards should wallpaper old staples (even Lilith's Blessing or Villein or Parity Shift) and no new cards should be powerful enough to become mainstream in Tournaments or completely overshadow entire strategies.
Because then, the new owner of the game might just choose not to print them and people would complain.
If any of the new cards become a significant part of the game and then the new owner "bans" them all, it will not be good either.
I think we can live with proxies (in a very strict context) and I'm all for the new releases.
I just can't separate the two things, because both make the arrival of a new owner less than smooth.
But we're all grown ups and we all know there will be changes in the game when someone takes over it.

There was recently an eBay auction for 6x Villein that went for $36. These auctions show up on eBay all the time.Villeins are 12+ US Doll. Don't know where you find them as cheap as 6.
Each time I go to eBay, I only see ludicrous prices for Villeins, but as you know very well I believe you, of course.

The only effect of continuing the current proxy policy is to allow the barrier of entry to grow as time goes on. That hurts long-term growth of the player base, which also hurts any potential buyers.
Replied by Dorrinal on topic Re: Expansion Update
First of all, that's never going to happen. But let's suppose that it will. Proxies are already permitted in casual play! No one has to buy any cards to play V:TES! They only have to buy cards for VEKN sanctioned tournaments. Yet players bought cards for years. Why would a company worry about proxies when deciding to revive the game?If so, good luck in convincing some investor in the future about taking a free proxy game that he has to turn again in a produced and paid-for game.
