Comes from the proverb "There's always room behind sauna".

I might be wrong about this but the proverb might have its roots in the 1918 Civil War, where especially captured red were often summarily executed.
Why behind sauna? In Finland saunas are plentiful and behind a sauna is kinda out of sight. Especially as they rarely are located prominently to begin with. But all this is just guesswork on my part.
