Tournament rules regarding different backs on cards.

Yes. But you're approaching an institution with the intent of changing one of its rules, without being able to point out even one actual real world example of how that rule isn't working.

I mean, I can't help but notice that nobody's answered my question about whether or not those French players whom we do know were cheating sleeved their decks or not. The only other concrete instance of cheating that I've heard about is the guy whom Brum caught monologuing, and I'm really not worried about him not getting caught cheating because he's apparently a James Bond villain and the plans of those guys never work out right.

Not sure which French players you're talking about, and since you just refer to them as "those French players" it's kinda hard to say something about it.
The only case I recall hearing about at all though was one a few years back, but that was about decklists not being correct or card switching between rounds, not 100% sure. That particular case feels very irrelevant to this discussion though. Do you have any more information at all about "those French players"?

I might be. It's mostly hearsay and muddled memories from my part, but it's the only "official" I've heard about cheatin/cheaters in VTES.

As for the discussion at hand though, it's not so much about actual cheating as the allowance of differently backed cards (which gives information, whether that is used or not).

No, sorry. I'm not being deliberately obtuse about the topic, I only know next to nothing about it. Early in this thread (I think it was in this thread?), Kevin mentioned some French players who were known cheats and Ankha replied that they were retired now. But that's all I know, and those are the only known cases of cheating that I know anything about (aside from that idiot who explained to Brum how he was going to cheat).
