It takes most of the challenge out of deck building. lawfirm with every madcap ventrue Prince is kinda broken. ks stealthbleed with morel , dolphin, George, Persia, midget, Jackie, bela , apache... it gets broke fast. no grouping means its harder to test new cards thoroughly as well.

there needs to be grouping. just because you want a trash deck to be better doesn't mean rules should change. I've complained about rocia and the most recent Indy gargoyle not grouping with the other 3 for years. the rule doesn't need changed because of it.

for me the appeal of no grouping is that i have few cards.

for lackey i have all the cards; its much less of an issue.

maybe someone can hold a tournament with no grouping rule and see what crazy stuff pops up.

could be fun.

There was an HTTB tournament that suspended grouping rules - and yes, it was fun. But I wouldn't want to play that way all the time. The restrictions imposed on deck building by the grouping rule foster creativity.

As to the problem of not owning enough cards - there's no real answer here except "buy more cards". Thankfully, you can find crypt cards on eBay fairly cheap (and you'll sometimes see auctions for collections of grouping-specific vampires).
